"En ole koskaan valmistanut muodikkaita valaisimia, koska ne menevät pian pois muodista." - Lluis Porqueras. Aivan oikein. Alun perin vuonna 1979 julkaistu Funiculi-lattiavalaisin on ylevän yksinkertainen. Vaikka siinä on ajattomia toiminnallisia ominaisuuksia, kuten säädettävä varsi ja 360 asteen varjostin, juuri perusmuotojen tasapainoinen vastakkainasettelu herättää huomiota: retro-varjostin tarjoaa nykyaikaisen vastakohdan sen sylinterimäiselle (ja kumirenkailla varustetulle) rautapohjalle.

The design is so stripped-back that it disappears into the room, and the light it casts is genuinely warm without any glare. I keep catching myself just looking at the silhouette it makes against the wall at night. Feels like something that’ll never feel dated, honestly.

It’s been over a month and the Funiculi still doesn’t feel dated, which says a lot for something designed in 1979. The slim silhouette fits neatly beside the sofa without shouting for attention, and the light it casts is warm and even. Exactly the kind of quiet, timeless piece I was hoping for.

I’ve had this lamp for a few weeks now and it still stops me every time I walk into the room—that simple 1979 silhouette just works with everything. The light is warm and even, and the base is heavy enough that my cat hasn’t knocked it over once.
